Grape Overview The Grape Vine

The U.S. Grape Market

Washington State ranks No. 1 in production, where 47% of the national Concord grape crop is grown and harvested. Concord grapes make up 90% of the juice grape production from Washington State.

Concord grape juice is not used just for juice. It's used in a variety of products, including: jellies, jams, juice drinks, bakery products, confections, yogurt, and fruit smoothies.

Yield from juice grapes can fluctuate substantially among years in terms of the yield in tons per acre. Although Washington-grown Concord grapes are already regarded by many as the best in the world, growers, and researchers are continually working to enhance the growing and juice process to provide increased quality and value, as well as exploring the role of Concord grape juice in a healthy lifestyle.

Concord Grape Juice

Processed straight from the grape, deep-purple Concord grape juice, rich in natural, energizing sugars, is marketed in bottles, cans, as frozen concentrate, shelf-stable concentrate, and in vending machines and fountain dispensers. Delicious alone, grape juice can also be an ingredient in pungent hot and icy cold drinks from the punchbowl, blender and bar, in soups, entrées, salads, desserts, and frozen specialties.
